Help, it's been over a month and I can't adjust to CPAP therapy

That is a heartbreaking tale to hear, mostly as it will resonate with many of us who have struggled like yourself. A month in is not much time to adjust to the "new normal". It does get easier but it is clear Betty is not helping you much. I am four months further along than you and only after a couple of months did I start to fall asleep again easily. I still wake at 0400 with leak problems almost every night and have much more disrupted sleep as a result. This is only tolerable as at least the sleep is mostly free of Aponea events. So I am having less sleep, but healthier sleep.

I have both a nasal pillows mas and a full mask. With the nasal pillows I wear a chin strap to stop my mouth from opening, but you can improvise one with a bandage. Sling your lower jaw in it and tie it on top of your head. Don't fit it really tight. It should just be tight enough to stop your jaw from dropping open and no more. I go between the full face mask and the nasal pillows. I cannot determine which one is best. The nasal pillows feels awkward but leaks way less. The full face mask is easier to wear but leaks easier as it has more face to seal against. It's a struggle but does get easier.

It is not weird that you never saw a sleep doctor, technicians fit and dispense the masks after the doctor writes the prescription after wearing the diagnostic monitor. They just kind of give you the machine and expect you to magically adjust to it with little support.

I suggest you try a chin strap, either a commercial one or one you rig up yourself. Have you tried fitting your own mask yourself? Betty has clearly not done a good job, so fiddle with it until you get it less leaky and more comfortable. The humidifier and heated hose you have are both nice to have.

The way I see it is that we all have this for the rest of our lives, so it's up to us alone to make it work. Don't settle for bad support and stick with it.

Good luck, hold fast.
