Help make a change by funding an international student's stay in America. Student visa set to expire in 11 days.

I don't personally know Carter but I just saw this on Facebook and I'm trying to help this guy out. I have copied and pasted the description from the event page.

I don't really know the correct subreddit for this, but if anyone knows, please help me out!

"My name is A. Kwan, and I am creating this event on the behalf of a man who was initially just an acquaintance of mine but had quickly become one of my best friends in just a matter of months.

For those of you who do not know, Carter was once an international student who attended UCLA and is now an alumni of as of this recent spring. For those of you who do know Carter most likely recognize him as one of the most energetic, most thoughtful, most considerate, and most selfless people you may ever meet in your life. Throughout my 20 years that I have been alive, I have never met another person who can bring so much energy and life to the room. The influence that he has on people is something that is rather magical and something that you will rarely find. I've seen how much he is willing to offer to people without ever asking for anything back, even when he may not be in the best situation himself. I can go on and on about what makes him the genuinely good person that he is, but that's not the point here. For those of you who know him well, you will likely agree with me.

In the recent months, I have personally seen Carter go through a roller coaster with many ups and downs, with the downs all coming at the most unwanted and unexpected times. To sum it all up, Carter will have to leave the States on February 20th, a little less than two weeks. This news was not brought to us until this past Friday evening, February 6th, when his mom called and told him that she will not be able to afford his tuition at Santa Monica College this spring semester. Without being enrolled as a full-time student, Carter's eligibility to stay here will be cut short because of the criteria of his F-1 student visa.

Because all of this happened, Carter, Anh V (Carter's girlfriend), and the few of us who have been aware of this situation have been devastated. We've researched and searched for solutions, but of course, there was close to nothing that we can find that can help him at this point. Within the last 24 hours, Anh came up with the idea of creating a campaign to help Carter with his tuition payment. We initially had many doubts about whether we would be able to fundraise enough money for this campaign, but we came to the conclusion that there is nothing to lose at this point. We also firmly believe that the impact Carter has made on people in the years that he has been here is strong enough that we can get him through this. We initially had started a campaign via an organization called GoFundMe, but have now moved to YouCaring because it will take only 2.9% of the donations rather than 2.9% + 5%.

Because I do not want to make this Facebook event post too lengthy, I kindly ask that you visit our campaign website for more details about his situation. The link to the campaign can be found below:
