Help a clueless wife find great paints!

Citadel paints come in a pot which seems to be designed to help the paint dry out faster. Citadel does have a helpful paint app which will help in understanding what colours are required to achieve a certain look - all referencing citadel paint names, of course. The app is available on the android and apple stores for free.

Vallejo paints are cheaper and come in droplet bottles, so they don't dry out as fast. Your husband will need to work out the equivalent colours if he is going to be painting a uniform looking army. There may be a comparison chart for matching Vallejo to Citadel, but I haven't found it yet.

Lots of really good painters use a variety of brands, and seem to understand how the colours will look once applied. So brand matters less as experience increases. They don't seem to use craft store acrylics, and I can say from personal experience that they aren't as nice to work with as the more expensive paints.

If you're chasing spray primer, then stick to citadel. Definitely don't get cheap sprays from the hardware store. The end result will be nowhere near as good.

Good luck!
