Help Learning the game?

I would advise you against choosing the Vikings, due to the chance of really getting into football and (as others have said) being constantly disappointed in new and unusual ways. Do yourself a favor and pick a good team like the Patriots or something like that.

The best way to pick up on any sport is to probably just watch it with friends and ask questions (without being annoying) after a quarter if there's anything you still dont understand. You can look at a picture of the positions, which switch on offense and defense, but Id say its better to just pick it up naturally since you'll see lineups in the beginning and the announcers will be talking about the positions constantly.

You just might not like football and that could just be the permanent case. I tried to get into watching the Wnba, baseball (I can watch the twins in the playoffs anytime though), soccer, golf, and tennis all just to have something to watch on hot summer nights but just couldnt do it. Which is similar to you since you want to like football but cant seem to be able to. So its not hard for me to imagine someone being unable to digest some of the sports I like to watch.
