Help me out :)

UW is strong in tech, respectable in STEM and research but looked over in the rest of the other departments in terms of recruiting. UW CS will get you interviews at the FAANGs, but Foster isn't going to pass you for IB or consulting at MBB. UW Medical school is respected and will get you residencies at top programs and even further specializations at John Hopkins and other notable T15's, but UW law school isn't going to get you into a comfy corporate law position. It's a give and a take, the UW excels in niche areas and it does it well. However, as a whole outside of CS / Tech / Medicine / Research it doesn't really help you out when there is a huge influx of new grads coming from the other 49 states.

For example if you major in speech and hearing sciences at the UW, and you are competing with a Berkley graduate in speech and hearing sciences for the same role, they are more inclined to favor the Cals grad.
