Help me understand this illness?

Honestly it would not surprise me. They've exhibited at least some low level sociopathic tendencies their whole life (frequent lying to get away with stuff, take advantage of people, unremorseful, unapologetic, lack of empathy, etc). They also doesn't seem to ever get "low" as I would have always assumed a bipolar person would. All of their episodes take them from normal to manic for a period of one to four months. There will be brief, seemingly unprovoked 10 minute crying and sadness fits during these months long episodes, but 95% of the time is just full manic, I am a god, you cannot control me, mad scientist style shit. It's absolutely strange.
