This may get me downvoted into oblivion, but...

The majority of folks on this sub have a pretty strong aversion to “classic” games such as Monopoly, Life, Sorry, etc. Instead, we focus a lot more on modern Tabletop games, which are becoming more and more mainstream every year, and are not necessarily part of a “geek” subculture. Modern games are now available at Target, Barnes & Noble, Amazon, and many other retailers.

Games such as Ticket to Ride, Catan, Pandemic, Splendor and many many more are simple to learn “Gateway” games that are favored above the classic games from decades ago.

In other words, I’m not sure you’ll have many responses on how you could merge two classic games into one. You may, however, receive some recommendations about games you’ve never heard of.

For what it’s worth, every couple/Family who only knew of Monopoly, Life and other classics, thoroughly enjoyed my family teaching them Ticket to Ride, and later purchased a copy for themselves.

I understand your desire is to celebrate some challenges you’ve been through, and do so through classic games, so my apologies if the above thoughts aren’t helpful.
