HELP! New to Bicycling in Columbus

Just get practice and before end of summer youll have a good routine. Keep chatting with other bikers about which roads they use to go where. For example from north campus to the northern section of short north, that part of high street sucks going downtown. Instead i use summit and over the overpass and zoom right on into downtown. Keep getting bits of advice like that, about which routes for where, because that advice isnt about how quick to go but how safe to go. Remember youre not in a car and the shortest distance is the one with the most managable safe space between you and other traffic.

Also register the bike. Get a u lock. Get a front white rechargeable led light, and red one for the rear. Buy some reflective tape and use that on the peddle arms and elsewhere. Get a helmet and put the tape on that too. Dont just buy everything retail, order accessories online because the local shops are all ripoffs. Get degreaser and a simple chain cleaning tool to keep your chain happy.

Good luck.
