Help a newbie: How do non-Valkyr frames survive?

Do they just have an overwhelming amount of damage and kill everything before it has a chance to shoot?

yeah this is exactly what you have to do with high damage, very delicate frames like Banshee - use cover and staying mobile, soft cc when needed and destroy high level npc before they can kill u, so its a more advanced gameplay in that you get punished for simple mistake that wouldnt matter with a frame like valkyr (so spending time in frail frames will make you a better player overall)

a key here is very powerful weapons that can take down high threat enemies fast, you want fastest time to kill over raw paper dps

as the player you have to prioritize which targets in the window you have while avoiding return damage as much as possible - think of it as jousting or making passes, you set up your pass (cast skills, regen, reload, cc, etc) to do what you can in the window u have right before avoiding whats aggroed on you in return

didnt see what else was mentioned but will add a few things anyways

for energy there is zenurik energy regen, syndicate proc energy regen, primed flow + energy restore consumables turns your frame in a battery and they are pretty cheap really - combined together these easily feed even the hungriest build - some team mates even have extra focus skills or arcane which will give u extra energy when ur in range with them

same deal with health - even cheaper health restores, syndicate proc health restores, arcanes, focus, furis lifesteal, lifestrike melee not that it matters at high levels they will one shot a non-near-immune frame anyways

high level enemies as u know will steal all your energy in an instant so energy restores or a trinity teammate is the hardcounter to that situation

as for excaliburs they will often run a invisibility build to avoid damage these days (thats 2 x full sets of arcane trickery) so sometimes when u "see" someone surviving on your team there could be alot more to it
