HELP please unable to connect to Putty with Raspberry Pi

My first thought is that you're pinging a live address that isn't the Pi; therefore, the computer will ping, but will not connect since it's not running an ssh server. Do you have access to the Pi with a keyboard, and monitor/tv? Also, how big is your SD card, and did you resize the root partition on its first boot? Did you also enable the ssh server on its first boot? Do you have a USB you are willing to flash linux to? My next thought is that you may not have either resized the root partition, or enabled the ssh server on the Pi's first boot. You can fix that by running the following command on the Pi:

Hi. Before i answer the questions you have. I have just noticed something very odd. I have just downloaded Win32diskimager to write Jessie onto the clean card and i get this error message " Unable to execute file (then the location path) Create process failed: code 740 The request operation requires validation"

What can be causing this? Very strange.

To answer your questions. :)

My first thought is that you're pinging a live address that isn't the Pi; therefore, the computer will ping, but will not connect since it's not running an ssh server.

100% it is the pi addresss (there are 2 one for hard wired and one for wifi

Do you have access to the Pi with a keyboard, and monitor/tv? YES will use it for the new boot up

Also, how big is your SD card, and did you resize the root partition on its first boot? 16GB class 10 integeral. I rezied the boot partition once i was at the gui (can you do it before?)

Did you also enable the ssh server on its first boot? YES

Do you have a USB you are willing to flash linux to? YES i will try anything, never used linux before.

So, as things stand, i am unable to run win32diskimager.... very odd.
