Help! Someone crashed into the front of my house last night!

In this case: a metis person.

While understand and sympathize with some of your points, I'd like to make one clarifying point: Being Metis (or any racialized minority) does not make you immune from expressing racist ideas.

I'm not saying you hold or share racist sentiments. However, we shouldn't have to know - indeed, we don't have to know - one's skin colour before we decide if an idea is racist or not. The fact that you feel like you have to qualify a statement to defend it from perceptions of being racist suggests that that idea may need some further consideration.

Being Metis does, however, give you unique and extremely valuable insight into the issues you're discussing. I'd hate for you to sully your important perspective by being loose-lipped based on your false sense of immunity from sharing racist sentiments because, again, ideas around race can be shared irrespective of one's skin colour (though our lived realities and histories give us our unique perspectives).

Anyways, not meaning to get involved in the existing debate in this thread, but just wanted to add that point as some constructive criticism.
