This happened to me when I first started online dating.

One of the first people I started chatting to was a young lady who was 19 years old.

I asked her out pretty quickly, she said yes, I don't know what was going through my mind, I instantly regretted it, I think I just wanted to find out if she'd say 'yes'.

Then she said she was a girl scouts leader (or something like that), and I was just thinking to myself, "there is no way I could sell this to anyone, guy in his 30s dating a 19 year old who is a girls' scouts leader". I mean some guys might not mind but I'm the sort of person who really cares about what other people think.

I just told her "I'm really sorry, but I think I jumped the gun when I asked you out, you seem really great, but I think you're a bit too young for me".

She was fine about it, lesson learnt, and I changed my age parameters to something I could live with.
