Helping professions that aren't so traumatic and/or soul crushing??

Yeah but not everyone can be “absolutely sure” before they’re starting out and then you end up sabotaging yourself with analysis paralysis because you’re searching for that elusive perfect career.

Sometimes you stumble on something that interests you while working. My friends worked any old job with history and anthropology degrees, and while working they found areas they were more interested in and later did certifications to hone in on those areas. Also I’m not sure why you’ve completely written off nursing. Yeah bedside probably sucks but once that’s out of the way there’s a lot of settings you can work in, you can continue your education and work non clinical roles that won’t “devastate” or “traumatize” you.

It just seems like you’ve pooh poohed a lot of suggestions here with black and white thinking when actually these careers may have different routes or avenues that you haven’t considered. Maybe keep a little more of an open mind so you’re not sabotaging yourself during your search.
