Sending our most ill to the hospital isolates them more than having them out and about. Having people socially distance means that less communicable and more deadly versions propagate less.

The ideal is that it will mutate out of humans like the Spanish flu. Second best is that we get a strain that's least deadly and spreads quicker than all the others.
