Here, how's IT Tallaght?

I'm a 4th year ITT Computing student finishing this year.

Ill be honest, its a great college coarse. At the very start you will do every part of computer science. This includes Networking, Databases, Programming, Batch Scripting, and Web Development. The Coarse has changed a bit since I started, but for our group it split into 2 parts, the IT Management section and the Computing section. People who found programming difficult eventually switched to IT Management, which is basically computer science without Software Engineering.

In regards to programming, for the first 2 years we focused on Java learning the fundamentals, then C++, C# and Python. If you are really interested in computer science and programming, I would probably recommend teaching yourself a little Java before you officially start as this will help you significantly in the long term. In Second, Third, and Forth year, we had yearly projects which we spent up to 6 months doing each. Your project can be whatever you want, a game, a website or a program.

In third year we also got the chance to do some work placement at a company which is a great chance to get some real life experience before you finish your degree.

We started off with about 120 students, at this point in time I think we only have 40 left doing programming. Computer science has the highest rate of drop-outs so be warned about that. Many just go on to do IT Management if they can't code.

Currently, there's a shortage of Computer science graduates in this country atm, and its been like that for a while now, so employability and salaries are pretty good. Also you should know ITT and DIT are planning on merging, becoming a Technology University soon!

In any case, beware of the Heron problem, also "Learning to Learn" is cringey as fuck. Goodluck so!.
