Heresy Breaks.... What story made you decide to take a break from the 40K universe ?

When the amount of grimdark went from "little bit depressing, but still enjoyable" to "HURR DURR GRIMDARK GRIMDARK BETRAYAL BETRAYAL AN ADEPTUS ASTARTES WOULD NEVER FIRE UPON HIS KIN BROTHERHOOD I CAN'T SAY"

There are only so many times I can stand listening to how shocking the betrayal was. OR the bragging by the traitor legions. I mean, I LOVE that the HH series involves a larger scale of battle. No longer is there a special squad of space marines, here's a fucking ape shit legion ready to go.

I DO find that SOME of the stories delving into either the Emperor or the Primarchs to be a bit.. stupid. Master of Mankind was a bit silly for me. I mean, I GET it that Big E didn't really care for his creations i.e. the Primarchs, but the whole bit with the Custodes being all high and mighty about how special they were to the Emperor was a bit silly.

Let's not forget that even though apparently the Emperor didn't care for the Primarchs, he still made it a point to create villas for all 20 of them; Alpharius and Omegon probably got bunk beds or something

Dark Imperium Spoilers And then we have the contradiction when old G-man encounters his father and realizes that his creator sees him as a tool rather than as a son.

I just feel that the idea of the Emperor being an uncaring monster lessens the tragedy of the Horus Heresy and Dark Imperium. I get that he loves humanity, not humans, thus making things oh so grimdark, but y'know, maaayyybeee if SOMEONE sat Logar down and talked to him, or, I dunnoe, just fucking squashed Erebus and Kor Phareon, everything might have been OK?
