Hero Gets All the Ladies

It isn't my first either.

What I meant is that DQ franchise has had a history of heteronormativity where male protagonists where considered the "canon" ones despite having female counterparts in some of the games, Erdrick is the most common example. The theory of heteronormativity includes straight men taking all the leading roles over women

Why is that a problem? Why is a male leading character an issue worth such a hassle? There are plenty of other pieces of media, why must the claws of intersectional feminism be sunk into this one as well, is nothing out of the crosshairs of ideological subversion where none previously existed.

A game like DQ whose main protagonist is supposed to inmerse your persona into the game should have a female counterpart

This supposed focus on immersion has never really been a mainstay of the series, even less so in the entries where characters and their relationships are written out in game.

"should"... Why? Why should a series have a thing just because you want it? I like writing and the characters I enjoy writing most a women, and as such I also enjoy playing female characters but I'd never get so big for my britches as to demand that a game or any piece of media "should" have to be changed to cater to me, lest it be branded heretical in the court of public opinion. Again, fragile person.
