Heroin is now legal in Vancouver

Portland ranked as the 62nd most dangerous by their metric of "cost of crime per capita," combining violent crime, property crime, and the calculated societal cost. This is the measure that drove the headline with the 15 most dangerous that Portland is nowhere near.

If you narrow it down to just the property crime rate*, though, Portland is 10th worst. Our rate of 5,577 per 100k residents is over 23x that of NYC, 3.4x that of Los Angeles, and 5x Chicago.

Looking at similarly sized cities, our property crime rate is around 3.3x Boston's rate, 4.5x that of El Paso, and 83% of Las Vegas'.
