"He's better than Karl Towns" - scout after today's Porzingis workout.

I am European and I think Euro players are more prone to flopping. Not sure if the numbers back this up, or how you would even create a system to try and identify flops vs. good picks.

I think it has to do with culture in part. Euros focus much more on fundamentals and team play versus the American athleticism and alpha dog mentality. I think a lot of Euros are overwhelmed by the aggressiveness and athleticism American players have. Not sure how to describe it really but has there ever been a Euro with a killer mentality that becomes a machine like Jordan, Kobe, KG, Westbrook, LeBron or Shaq? I realize those are some of the all time greats, but their mentality and insane relentlessness focused into a singular goal is what made them that way.

I think the Euros have a lower ceiling for this reason, and a higher floor in most cases. They usually lack the tool of elite athleticism because they are taking jumpers while the Americans are focusing on being bigger, stronger faster and want to dunk on you more so that set a screen and hit an open mid range jumper on you.

Again, it's tough to put into words the difference but it is just a different approach to the game where I think the Americans many times have more focus on developing certain foundations for great players (strength, jumping, "flash") than Euros.

I would like to see more elite level Euros come to the States for 1-3 years of elite college basketball to get used to the different game and supplement their games with being used to 6'11" guys who have no basketball skill really and are just out there to try and bully you and swap your layups into the 10th row. There is some sort of mental hurdle there that needs to be surpassed where a little bit of an alpha needs to be born.

Im ranting at this point so Ill stop but that's how I look at it.
