Why is heterosexual fornication not treated with the same severity as homosexuality?

I agree 100%. I think it's a very hypocritical that Christians are okay with premarital sex and drinking but homosexuality is where they draw the line.

I have a friend who's a devout Catholic. And I am not Catholic, but I have a great deal of respect for Catholicism because my grandmother is Catholic. Anyway, I love my friend and I love when we get to talk about church and shit together. But she confessed one day that she really wasn't sure how she felt about homosexuality because the church always taught her that it was wrong. I'm pretty sure the church also taught her that premarital sex was wrong, but she had no problems making an exception to that rule. I'm not trying to sound like a judgmental prick, because like I said, I love that we get to bond over faith, and we agree on a lot more than we disagree on. I'm just making the point that people pick and choose which rules matter.

But then again, I'm like that too. I'm firmly pro-life and I don't believe in sex outside of marriage. But I still drink, and when I drink, I usually drink a lot (I make up for it by not drinking very often. I figure it evens out). I also swear like a motherfucking sailor. I did try to give it up once, but I just physically couldn't. I have always supported gay rights and trans rights and I've never believed it's a sin to be who you are. My stances are kind of all over the map and they don't make a lot of sense, and it's made it a fucking pain in the ass to find a church, because hardline and progressive Christians alike annoy the hell out of me.

Anyway, the moral of the story is we all have biases, and it's good to challenge them from time to time.
