Hey Badgers! Please take my survey on undocumented students receiving financial aid. We only a few more responses!

After President Trump’s “zero tolerance” policy in May of 2018, immigrant children have been kept separated from their families inside of detention camps at the US-Mexico border. Are you in favor of these actions toward immigrant children?

This is such a BS question and it's phrased in a way to make it seem like this is some sort of punitive measure taken against the children. If you're a single parent with no extended family and you commit some sort of crime, when you are put into a jail, your kid cannot come with you to jail. This is true regardless of whether you're a citizen or not. The only difference here is that if your child is a US citizen, they're handled by the CPS in your state. If your child is not a US citizen, they're handled by the department of health. But fundamentally what's the difference?

I'd genuinely like to hear from anyone that answered, "strongly against these actions" -- what should happen here instead? Should we send children to federal prisons with their parents? Should we never enforce immigration laws and have an entirely open border?

The crux of the issue is truly just that some illegal aliens were arrested and deported, and some portion of the "children" that arrived with those illegal aliens weren't tracked as being affiliated with them.

Why do I put "children" in quotes? Here's why._1.png)
