Hey Madison, what do you pay in rent? ($/Bdrm,Bath/Neighborhood)

$1500 1 bed 1 bath (a very tight 600 sq ft for two), in a new construction, 70 unit complex immediately west of the isthmus, owned and managed by a company with complexes in multiple states - this includes 1 heated garage space, flat rate water/sewer that is "readjusted" aka increased annually, with dishwasher and in unit W/D, both of which broke down in peak COVID supply chain/economic shutdown. While management did their best to address in a timely manner, they were really just the intermediate for their crappy third party maintenance/repair company who was super unhelpful and downright difficult to work with.

There aren't enough spaces in garage, so we have to keep our second car out on the street. Because City of Madison recognizes that we have a garage, we are disqualified from getting a residential street parking pass, and we've gotten a couple 2+ hour parking tickets over the years. We figure that cost of tickets is ultimately less than paying for another space full-time.

We also have a super bad mold problem in the winter because of poor circulation (basically the only window is our patio door) and bad building design. I've only managed to keep it at bay with multiple dehumidifiers, DampRid buckets, spraying the walls with bleach, and keeping our bathroom exhaust fan running 24/7 from Oct-March.

I've always rented houses/duplexes from mom and pop before moving here and I regret going with 1) poor quality new construction and 2) a large property company. We pay too much for what we get, but can't be bothered to move as the market sucks and our time in Madison is almost up. /endrant
