Hey Reddit, When did your “Somethings not right here” gut Feeling ever save you?

My family was in the process of building a home in our home country in Europe. The whole exterior was built but the inside wasn't done and we didn't even have flooring yet except in one bedroom upstairs. We all slept on foam mattresses for the time being in that room.

One morning, me and my parents woke up to the sound of heavy rain. My mom said, "the rain sounds wonderful and it'll be great for the crops". But something about the noise felt off to me. I decided to get up and walk out of my room. That's when I realized the noise was definitely coming from inside the house. Too scared to investigate, I called my parents and it turns out a water pipe broke in the downstairs bathroom and the water had been gushing out of there for at least an hour. The first floor was soaked. Luckily, we didn't have flooring at that point so nothing was damaged but we had to wait over a month for the floor to completely dry to avoid weird smells.

If I hadn't been suspicious about the weird rain noise in time, I'm not sure how much worse it could've gotten.
