We had a new acquisition once ask us to wipe their old computers because they have a tradition of selling them to employees. I’m not a decision maker but even I was able to tell them that tradition was about to end. Even if we would let you sell them, we’re not paying our IT staff to re-image your laptops.

They really raised hell and were actually told we would make a one-time exception but then we dropped the bomb. Since you’re now part of our organization, you need to make those laptops available to all of our 15k employees, not just your 200 employees. As you can imagine, they dropped it immediately. That was years ago and they’re still pissed.
