HF antenna upgrade

a G5RV is a dipole. It's a "doublet dipole" antenna that basically takes advantage of using open wire feed line or "window line" to transform impedance closer to 50 ohms for your radio or tuner for at least 2 or more bands, and is also less lossy than coax.

I think every ham should try new antennas to test out for their own, but it sounds like your noise problems will probably not improve unless your new antenna is moved and is lucky to avoid the noise source on the next source.

The number one thing that helps any dipole is height above ground, so I can guarantee that unless your new dipole is higher than the current one, you will not notice much of any difference.
