Hi guys. First time, to be, puppy owner. Breeder says Dave was ready to collect but I'm worried of his age

So another commenter broke it down for me and I see the issue in a more general sense. I think that comment should be higher because it’s more informative and less self-righteously said than the original commenter’s.

I agree, lots of issues here. I think it comes down to:

  1. Access. The application process for many rescues leaves something to be desired. Not saying it’s bad at all to vet potential owners, but sometimes the requirements are overly stringent, which scares away even responsible potential owners from applying.
  2. Money. Backyard breeders will often have much lower prices for dogs than legitimate breeders. If someone is dead set on a certain breed but doesn’t have $2000 to shell out for one, they’ll look elsewhere.
  3. Lack of knowledge about the systemic issues that backyard breeders/puppy mills cause.

I don’t have solutions to any of these, outside of making it illegal to operate a puppy mills/backyard breeders or making the laws more harsh, which we unfortunately dont have as much control over.

Just breaking down what might be going on in someone’s head when they decide to go that route.
