Hi r/fitness, I'm morbidly obese and trying to make positive lifestyle changes. What are the most important changes I can make?

See, the problem with being morbidly obese and wanting to change that situation is that "change" will only be visible MONTHS later and that super slow weight loss will be the reason for anyone to get discouraged and stop. Let me reiterate, when you say morbidly obese, it means that you have (just throwing numbers) >115LBS of excessive weight and that you're risking diabetes and a multitude of life threatening diseases right? I'm betting that this isn't your first diet or first self-help post. Take an advice from someone who's been there, spare some money, if you have some, even better : get a mini-bypass surgery, it will change and save your life. I'm not a big fan of surgeries but rare are the people who can lose that amount of weight without any medical help. IMHO, there is a point of no return when being that obese, mostly psychological. Yes a diet is important, yes eating clean will get you to cut some weight. But if you cannot sustain it for at least 6 months, you will not get satisfying results. If you decide to go through with it, know that Yes it will hurt, you will feel like shit the first couple of weeks but it will eventually get better. You'll be able to walk, take the stairs, hike, run and fuck without the shortness of breath you're so (not) used to. Now, how much the story gets better totally depends on you. This isn't the easy way - there is no easy way. If you got here, it means you're dealing (and delt) with a lot of shit and all that binge-eating my friend, won't get solved with surgery. I know a few people that gained back all the weight they got rid of because they didn't change their lifestyle - maybe because they didn't get their shit "right". But what do I know, I only lost 125lbs and changed my life. Good luck.
