This hidden fee at a self checkout in LAX

I feel like it's more that they're worried that if they go first on raising their prices to cover health benefits they'll just wind up looking more expensive than the competition and that people will wind up staying away and going to places that are cheaper because they don't cover health benefits. What I'd rather see though is just factoring it into the prices and making a statement on the menu that they provide full health benefits for their staff. But I guess with the various online menu aggregators out there people will just see the prices and never see the statement about the health benefits.

Honestly it's another reason to just make it universal via taxes. Put everyone on a level playing field instead of the business trying to be less shitty getting punished because people just look at the prices and never even see the statement on the menu in the first place.
