This is actually my second comment here, but this one is crazy too; so for most of my childhood my family and I lived in an apartment above a laundromat in a fairly sketchy part of the east end of Toronto. There were two really seedy bars basically next door to us, and a third across the street. This one across the street was the biggest, and had about two or three stories of apartments on top of it. It's since been torn down to make room for new condos, but this was about a decade ago so it was still just sketch city. Apparently one of the residents of these apartments has been reported to have a gun in his possession, and was possibly even threatening people with it, I don't know, I never got the full story. Either way, the cops showed up. And when I say the cops, I mean a full SWAT team. They blocked off the entire street with cop cars and sent in one of those APCs and about five or six dudes decked out in full black armour and carrying those little submachine guns. They knocked on the front door a whole bunch, and then eventually broke the window and went in. After a while they came back with the dude detained and that was it. Whole things lasted maybe an hour or two. This was during the middle of the day, though. We actually tried to leave the house and the cops told us to go back inside. I was maybe 10 or 12 at the time, and it was the greatest excuse for missing school I ever had.
