High End Build Critique

What types of games do you play? I would say a 3700x would be better value but there are a couple specific games where the 9700k is the difference between 120fps and getting to that 144fps at 1080p, very few though.

For straight playing games, 16 gb of ram is around 30-50% more than is necessary, i don't see that changing for at least 2-3 more years. I'd recommend getting a 16gb kit and spending the extra money on a bigger ssd. Also keep in mind, ram is probably the easiest upgrade you can make if that ever changes.

Is the DVD drive needed for specific purposes for you? If not, that is a decent amount of money that could be put towards SSD storage for something almost completely obsolete nowadays. Apart from console games, i can't even remember the last time i've seen a dvd/cd but of course everyone is different.
