High platinum to Low Diamond is being absolutely dominated by smurfs at the moment.

The 2900s to 3000s transition seems like one of the most difficult to cross already. I've been less than 50 points away and then proceeded to drop 100 points. Smurfs don't make it easier. Overtime it probably evens out if you play tons of games, but like in your case people will get really unlucky streaks with GM level players on the opposing team. It defeats the purpose of the ranking system to play with others of your rating and improve gradually.

We need some type of prime matchmaking queue that prioritizes matching people on their main accounts. To qualify: 1) they should bind a credit card # and phone number to an account that are not used on any other account and 2) whenever a player wants to join the priority queue it should ask for phone verification that lasts 24 hours. Many people use the Blizzard app to log in anyway, so this shouldn't be too hard to implement. This way you need a working phone number and credit card. Smurfs will probably still happen, but it should reduce the prevalence.
