High schools shouldn’t be expected to teach you how to file your taxes.

My dad gave me paper 1040EZ forms when I was 14 and told me he’d check my work. I’m sure I thought he was an ass at the time, but I figured it out. And I appreciate that a lot of his lessons.

My tax situation is a lot more complex now and I do them myself. And I think a lot of that is thanks to my dad. He’s also the reason I can do a lot of basic car repairs and maintenance, and random shit around the house. He’s wasn’t going to let me get electrocuted or set me up for an IRS audit, but he’s did to let me figure it out and figure out I’m capable.

I don’t think a school class makes sense because the curriculum probably wouldn’t be done in a way that makes it easy to understand, promotes hands on learning, and I’m also sure there’d be aspects of it that were influenced by the district/county/state/feds.
