High Speed Low Passes

I was at a skydiving convention years ago, and a guy visiting the airstrip for the weekend brought his MiG. Yes, a real MiG.

One of the highlights of his visit was a low-altitude supersonic pass. Let me tell you, these videos do not do justice to the full-body overwhelming experience that is having a jet going full blast a few hundred feet over your head. "Deafening" implies most of the experience is auditory, but it's more like the air is beating you up from the inside out. It's not painful so much as it is overwhelming.

The way he did it was broke the sound barrier decently far out over farmland at higher altitude, then came down for the hypersonic low-altitude pass. It felt like the world was going to crack open.
