Hiking in Uncertain Times

I live in a small, rural community that runs on outdoor recreation. The issue isn't who you'll run into on the trail (although, even for that--a wool gaiter won't protect you enough to be meaningful in any way), the issue is travelling to those rural areas. Will you need to stop at a gas station? What happens if you get a flat tire? Will you need to stop and pick up snacks? Small communities like the one I live in can potentially be a hotbed if someone from Boston, Portland, or any larger city decides they need to go out for a hike and brings COVID with them. Stay at home means stay at home. You may want to consider moving closer to the mountains if they're really important to you.
