Hillary & Bernie Cold Open - SNL

SNL joins a long list of institutions who have seen my view of them change this election - I'm not a BernieBro I'm not saying I'll never watch SNL again - because of the way they have treated Hillary and her campaign.

The opening joke made me stop watching the sketch, to be perfectly honest to anyone reading this. This "I keep losing states" thing is pure, unadulterated BULL SHIT and I really just can't handle the way it's being portrayed, as though each state has equal value and when Bernie wins Indiana it's somehow as big of a deal as Hillary winning New York... or Ohio... or Florida.

The reality is the comedy world has been MASSIVELY biased towards Bernie. And you know what, that's their right, comedians don't have to answer to anyone and it should always remain that way... but the lack of willingness of shows like SNL and the Daily Show to PROPERLY (and early enough when it matters) call out Bernie Sanders and his supporters has colored my view of these institutions. I'm not gonna boycott them... but lets just say they've shown their true colors (at least in these iterations of them - this SNL writing staff, this Daily Show staff/host) and it seems these are people who don't think about things from as deep and a nuanced placed as it felt like they used to.

The left should be SKEWERING bernie sanders for the fact that his promises amount to a bait and switch: we democrats are the ones who WANT this nation to progress, and Bernie's plans have always been so over ambitious that they'd never lead to any progress.

This should have been the FIRST things that people like Trevor Noah needed to say a year ago on The Daily show... that this guy Bernie Sanders is - perhaps unbeknownst even to Bernie Sanders - promising something he can never deliver and thus taking democrats for a ride. But now it's too late. Enough people came to their senses to give Hillary the nomination, but nowhere near enough intelligent people with megaphones and an audience came out and called Bernie what he was, or spoke about the election for what it is.

The most dangerous trait of modern, mass-media journalism is the idea that all subjects require objectivity. Facts are not objective. You do not need to - nor should you - give equal time to a global warming skeptic as you give to a climate scientist. The media has treated Bernie with kid gloves for fear of being called biased - and they get called that despite their best efforts - and all it has led to is a bunch of people who think a man who is objectively less qualified with objectively unrealistic plans, is better than the most qualified non-incumbent to ever run for president.
