Hillary Clinton has a race problem — and it’s resurfacing at a dangerous time

You are right, some of the Sanders camp has come across as condescending in spreading the message on racial issues. I also think it is condescending to expect a person to vote based on race issues alone just because they are black.

People seem to have a hard time grasping that someone can be black, recognize Sanders has a comparable or even better record on racial issues, and still want to vote for someone else. It's incredibly condescending to expect any demographic to vote based on just one issue, especially when Hillary can point to plenty of positives on her own record.

I wish our supporters could take a cue from Sanders himself and do a better job with this....in the SC town hall when asked why Hillary was polling better with black voters he just shifted into "She's been in the spotlight, but let me tell you why they should consider me...."

That's how they need to be winning votes.

Regardless, I hope you can at least understand that this is coming from a lot of well intentioned people that just don't know how to communicate properly. I can't speak for everyone, but it is extremely frustrating to watch a candidate we support so strongly lose an election due to weak support from groups he has worked hard to fight for. The LGBT crowd has confused me on this also - Bernie openly supported them when he was risking his career to do so and had nothing to gain, yet they have flocked to an opponent who waited an extra 40 years until it was politically convenient. That's hard to swallow, and I think people are just at a loss as to how to spread a message to voters that are different from themselves, be it due to class, race, age, or whatever else divides them.

We just need to do a better job of remembering that if we just talk about Bernie and why Americans should support him, the votes will come.
