I lived in Belgrade for a while and can confirm that it is a great, inexpensive place to live. The government may be genuflecting eunuchs but the Serbian people are most definitely not. Serbia is a little enclave of anti-EU anti-NATO anti-modernist thinking. They attack gay pride marches. They reject notions of equality. They do not want to be part of the EU and they do not want globalism. Gun ownership rates are very high, both legal and illegal. Per capita second in the world behind the obvious. Not many people realise the extent of gun ownership in Serbia because it is not really a problem.

Having said that, the people are very warm and friendly, even to foreigners and those from NATO countries. The NATO bombing of Belgrade has not been forgotten however. If you're straight, white, masculine and like pretty feminine girls then you'll do okay in Belgrade.

The only issue I have with Eastern Europe is their flaky property rights as pertaining to a foreigner. The concept of equality is a fairly new concept in many places remember, and as an immigrant you will not be favoured by the law of the land.

Scandinavia is often heckled as a progressive cesspool but if you wanted not just to emigrate, but form a like-minded community there are few better places to do it than Scandinavia. The idea of them being whitewashed liberal places is a bit of a misnomer. Nationalism is resurgent in Scandinavia and Europe and the advances of parties like Front National in France is encouraging a national zeitgeist throughout the rest of Europe. There are still many young radical conservative and traditionalist people in Scandinavia.

Land is ridiculously cheap there. For the price of a house in a Western European city you could buy up a tract of land and have a self sufficient ranch in the countryside well away from the liberal cities.

Guns are regulated and licensed in Sweden but still available on filing some paperwork and taking a hunting examination. It's no great hurdle.
