Hinge just made me realise the sheer scale of this

OLD is fickle. It’s an art of first impression projection with an element of promoting further investigation, trying to just reach the point of a first impression; You are trying to catch someone’s attention in 15 seconds without giving enough for a snap judgement, and personally, my more positive qualities come from longer term in person engagement which sounds like you might relate to. I change my text profile pretty frequently to experiment, and the differences are staggering. I don’t recognize any obvious trends since I pepper in things that aren’t conventionally attractive for weeding out who I know won’t jive, but there have been times I’m getting no matches and switching it up or even simply just dropping a sentence flips it around. I’ve had varying success with the same pictures, sometimes nothing for a week, sometimes 100+ in a couple days (good ego boost but waste of time which is why I throw in niche interests more now). If you’re in rural bumfuck then that’s one thing, but for the most part reading experiences like yours signify there’s something simple you are doing wrong in presentation that has nothing to do with you as a person.
