To HiRez: Why We Need Hitscan (and why better netcode isn't a substitute)

You know, I was about to try and explain why I'm not a fan of hitscan or even rapid-fire projectiles in a Tribes game, but then I came to a realization.
The people who don't like the weapon types in Tribes Ascend probably already left long ago and haven't followed the game for a long time.. I'm alluding to a good 20 people on my Steam friends list that I befriended when TA was still in beta. We played TA for a long while and all stayed friends and have been playing games together for years now (I guess since TA was in beta.. can't believe how long it's been), but we haven't touched Tribes in a very long time, so all that's left may very well be people who love a Tribes game with hitscan and/or strong rapid-fire weapons and my opinion is now out of place. If that's the case then I'm really just thinking aloud here after reading through this post and comments and my comment shouldn't be taken into any serious consideration. And definitely don't take any of these thoughts personally or as an attack.

Honestly if the majority of players still playing this game all have 200+ ping, then hitscan should be in the game to help them enjoy what they're still playing. This is their game at that point. I personally won't be interested in that kind of Tribes, but that really doesn't matter if I'm not even the playerbase at this point. I'll always have Tribes 2 to play if I really need my projectile vectoring fix. Well not always, but sometimes.
And if this is the case, then the only reason I can see HiRez removing hitscan weapons is to try and get new players to come in, or perhaps old people who left long ago to come back and see changes that would let them actually enjoy the game. I know the patch notes regarding the class changes perked up a lot of ears in my group of gaming friends. But maybe those changes were something all the people who stuck around all this time were also asking for. All I know is it's going to take a lot to get them to take interest again, but what they like or want may not be what others like or want.

I'm not sure where I'm going with this. I'm sure hitscan would be fine for the people who have loved this game all this time for the past 3 years. Thanks for reading. Have a good night/day.
