[Hiring] Family Portrait

Hi there,

It's a common issue for sure :)

I guess to start, I would need some reference photos of the style you are seeking. Have you seen something on the net that gave you the idea for this painting? A particular Renaissance piece perhaps? If so, you could link me to them so I can get an idea of what you need.

In some cases, clients have given be a very basic illustration of what they are looking for in terms of how the scene will be set up. Here is an example of another Turtles scene "The Turtles Night Off" that I did for a regular customer with his idea for the piece and how it turned out:

Or a similarly weird painting of a Reindeer and a Polar Bear boxing:

Failing that, you could detail the idea you have as well as possible and I'll see if I can research some stuff with which to help bring the idea to fruition.

Another thing then if we decide to move forward on the piece is, we would need pretty good quality reference photos of your family. If we have already established the scene and how the characters are set up, then it's great to take the photos in the same pose and style as it makes the transfer much easier..

See more examples of what I mean for this:

Star Wars - the central guy has been painted as Bobba Fett so i took a head shot in the same pose to turn the digital reference image into the painting with him included:

Or the kid painted into the Turtles scene acting out the pose for the painting:

Other things you can do in the beginning would be to tell me the size that you need for the canvas, so maybe measure out the area above the fireplace so I know the space that I have to work with!

Once we get some of this info together, I can give you a detailed price and plan to put it all together.

Do you have a budget in mind for this work?

I hope this info is helpful and remain available to answer any questions you have. If easier, we could also communicate by email and my address is [email protected]

Cheers and speak soon

Colm
