Hiring managers of Reddit, what are you tired of seeing on resumes?

I think it depends on what industry you're in, but it USED to be that hopping from job to job looked bad, but since the late 2000's it's the way almost everyone operates. Companies hire fast and fire fast, they spring up out of nowhere overnight and then die at the drop of a hat. Your degree that's relevant today might be irrelevant by tomorrow, or rather, you'll need a different skill to do the same job or something. At some point in the last 20 years the old system of 'you go to school, go to college, get good grade, get a good job, get the pension, and retire' just stopped working. People don't go to college for one thing for a single block of years at a time very often anymore, we go in and out of college. People don't often stay at one job their whole lives, companies often don't last that long anymore, and almost no one is offering a goddamn pension or retirement plan!

I think what stands out much more than that is when people have gap. No one likes a gap for any reason, no matter how legit it is. Took 3 months maternity leave? You're clearly lazy. Went back to school for 9 months? You're clearly not dedicated. So, there's that, but a guy fresh out of college bouncing around a few jobs? I'd say that's not just par for the course, but encouraging. It means people are hiring you and that you are garnering industry experience. Also, if you haven't been fired from any of those jobs, it could potentially make you appear like a commodity. You're looking for the right job for YOU, and that can be appealing sometimes, depending on the industry, the job, and what they are looking for.
