[Hiring] (Online) Need icon assets for an Android app

I am sending this to everyone who responded to my Reddit post whose portfolios seemed to be compatible with what I am looking for:

App overview

This is a fitness app with functionalities for nutrition management, biometric logging, workout logging, and progress pictures. I made this because I was frustrated with the limitations of various fitness apps currently on the market, so I wanted something that filled in those gaps. It is my first Android application.

I haven’t put much effort yet into the UI side of things — the category icons in the following screenshots are just stock images I yanked from Google Image Search. My goal is to replace them all with assets that have a consistent theme and work well with the overall look of the app.

UI

I probably won’t change the actual UI part much because I want it to be somewhat “minimalist” in appearance, and so the icons would be the main aesthetic focus on those particular screens. Although if you happen to have experience with Android UI and have ideas for how to make this better, I am open to that as well, although this would be a separate project. A lot of things are currently unfinished (e.g. button themes, fonts, fine-tuning the spacing/padding/etc).

Current images

In those images, the category icons in the rows are being rendered at 50dp x 50dp. The icons show up in larger form in the workout screen, rendered at 70dp x 70dp.

I believe each icon would need a corresponding image for hdpi, mdpi, xhdpi, xxhdpi, xxxhdpi display modes, but since there are many icons involved, this may be overkill. It may be possible to just make images for xxxhdpi because I know Android will automatically rescale them for the other modes. So if this is the case, the icons would need to have the additional requirement of scaling down nicely (in the event you do not wish to make each one manually). But hopefully you know more about this than I do.

Right now I map the images into CircleImageViews, which auto-crops the corner sections of the images out (as expected), so please keep this in mind. Although if you really want to use the corners of the images, and the app looks better with square images instead of circular, I’m open to that as well.

Requirements

This app has a lot of functionality and so I would need icons for the following:

  1. The app icon itself (1)

  2. Exercise Categories (17): Ab Wheel, Ball, Band, Barbell, Body, Cable, Cardio, Dumbbell, EZ Curl Bar, Foam Roller, Game, Hex Bar, Kettlebell, Machine, Other, Rings, Stretch

  3. Food Categories (13): Beverages, Dairy, Fast Food, Fish, Fruits, Grains, Junk Food, Meat, Nuts, Oils / Fats, Other, Supplements, Vegetables

  4. Progress Picture Categories (14): Arms (front), Arms (side), Back, Body (back), Body (front), Body (side), Chest (Front), Chest (Side), Face (Front), Face (side), Legs (front), Legs (side), Stomach (front), Stomach (side)

1+17+13+14 = 45 icons

Budget

This is open to negotiation. I’d be more comfortable dealing with a fixed rate for all 45 icons. This is because I’d prefer not to have disjoint art styles throughout the app: It should all be consistent and made by the same artist, ideally.

I am new to all of this so please feel free to offer a counter proposal if any of this seems overkill to you:

My current thought is to first determine a fair price for the entire set, and then determine the timing of the asset completion + payments to you. Right now I am thinking payment #1 for the app icon + exercise categories, payment #2 for the food categories, and payment #3 (the largest payout) for the progress picture categories. I think a payout ratio of 25/35/40 for each stage would be reasonable.

After the icons are finished at each stage, I’d limit myself to a maximum of 3 revision requests per icon. I don’t imagine I’d get anywhere close to this, but I am proposing it to signal that I am not going to make a billion revision requests and then bail, especially if we’ve already agreed on an aesthetic and the completed set is indeed consistent with that aesthetic.

If you happen to be interested in fitness and have ideas for changing / adding any categories (and I end up agreeing with the changes), I’d be open to adding more icons to the request.

Other Considerations

If desired: I’d include your name / a link to your portfolio or website in the About section of my app, unless you would prefer to remain anonymous / have nothing mentioned.

Final Thoughts

If you are still interested: Please let me know your thoughts and we can go from there.

If not interested, I’d still appreciate knowing why (not interesting / scale of project / budget concerns / etc).

Thank you very much!
