His (ex) GF posted on Facebook about breaking up before he knew about it. I was the bearer of bad news...

This is long but relevant -

Something similar happened to a friend of ours.

I was friends with her and barely knew him. As I get to know her better, she starts complaining about him and I told her I would support her in anything but I think they should go get therapy for it. She says she's suggested it to him but he said no.

Fastforward a couple of months later. She tells me she's decided to divorce him, and I'm like did you try anything and she's like yes but it's not working. She asks me not to tell anyone about the divorce, so I didn't tell anyone including my husband about it.

A couple of weeks pass, and she announces on Facebook she's getting a divorce. I think she's announced it on Facebook it's ok to tell now, so I tell my husband - and he calls the guy in question and says he's so sorry to hear about it and asks if there's anything we can do for him. The guy is like what...the real hell...how did you know?

They had apparently agreed not to tell anyone until it was finalized and she announced it on her Facebook, only hid it from his timeline.

She was pissed at me. -.- I'm like you told everyone!

He also said she never suggested therapy etc. and he was floored by her decision.

Anyways, the guy became really our best friend. It's been 5 years, she moved to another state and they actually still keep in contact. I've worked at it and worked at it and all I can think is her head must have been in a weird place...and there was another guy involved who was a bit psycho...but I've made stupid mistakes too, so try to be forgiving. He's still in contact with her as well, and they remain friends. The world is weird, people are weird, and situations are weird.
