In historic first, sitting US and North Korean leaders meet face-to-face

For starters, the whole not-wanting-to-legitimize-a-country-that-puts-their-citizens-into-slave-labor thing?

But they are a "legitimate" country. Their atrocities and human rights violations don't change that.

Pretending they don't exist changes nothing. It's detrimental in the long run.

We already have allies who gravely abuse human rights and aren't any better than a country like North Korea.

I'm not a Trump supporter, and even though I've certainly voted for Republican candidates in the past, I don't consider myself a Republican or a conservative.

It's not hard to see this is being made into a very partisan issue though.

If Obama had met with Kim, everyone on the right would be making the same complaints people on the left are at the moment.

As of right now I see the meeting as a positive thing. What will come of it is yet to be seen.
