[Historical plot twist ] In 2027, Lebanese referendum to join another country. What will you vote?

It really depends why you want to join another country in the first place. If it's just because you want "working stuff" then you can prostitute yourself and several states will be happy to control this strategic area.

1) No, it was a caliphate. There was no Turkey, Turkism came much later when the Ottomans were "the sick man of Europe". Not the same thing.

2) No, incompatible culture and people and too much problems. It would ruin the Lebanese values.

3) Same as 2, and quite frankly, to give yourself just because of things you can gain is disgusting.

4) Nope, we're not European.

5) No because Syria in no shape currently.

6) No, too much bad blood and I will never join someone who keeps attacking and robbing our brothers down south.

7 ) No, we should be able to have our own policies

8) Too fundamentalist

9) No lol

Anyway, like I said, it's better to keep Leb indep if it's just for "free stuff" that you're selling yourself. A lot of this could be solved with a good political infrastructure but the Lebanese prefer the current situation. The only legit reason, according to me, where you would want to join another country is for nation building and to destroy the statu quo left by the french mandate. The most logical choice would be Syria because we actually have same culture, language, etc. as Western Syria and it was really popular among segments of the Lebanese population 70 years ago. Obviously, you need to take out the sectarianism and all the other shit that comes in the area before doing any move.
