hm

I don’t know the context of this photo, but here’s my take. My husband makes a large salary. We should be completely set and have zero money problems. Unfortunately he has always had a complete inability to save anything and he has always spent more money than he has. Gambling debts, poker, casinos when he was near one, sports betting, food, golf - they’ve added up to 6 figure credit card debts (on cards that are in his name only) and while we can pay the bills there’s nothing left over. We go from $10k in the bank on payday and 2 weeks later I wonder if my card is going to be declined at the grocery store. I had to leave my career to raise our kids as he was frequently overseas. I worked part time from home and now that my kids are older I have a job outside of the home. The money I make goes into a separate account to pay for kids sports, clothes, other activities. I refuse to put a dime in our shared account because it will simply disappear. I understand this sounds like a shitty or selfish thing to say “your money is ours but my money is mine” but in many cases it’s necessary. That said I wouldn’t put myself on social media bragging about it or something because it sucks to not be on the same page financially as your spouse.
