HMB While I bump with cop.

If you just ride next to them, keeping space they will most likely be safer.

Let's be honest, when they make a mistake they're going to do more damage to themselves than others. Sure, pedestrians aren't going to fair well against them but cars can certainly handle their own.

I watched a semi cream a biker on I-75 who was going, easily, 120mph. Semi driver was more upset about it than I was and I saw what happened, the gore that followed, and then gave a detailed step-by-step to the state troopers. Semi driver didn't know what happened, just said he felt a slight bump then saw a bike in pieces bouncing around in his mirrors and thought he was at fault or did something wrong. He wasn't. He didn't. Not even close. Felt bad for the guy, and tried to keep him away from the mess. Pretty nasty sight, to be honest.

But my view from the moment I talked to the trooper was: play stupid games, win stupid prizes. Biker knew what he signed up for, made a huge error in judgement, and paid the ultimate price. It happens. Life goes on... just not for him. He returned to the universe the energy he had on loan like we all will some day.

TL;DR: Most bikers know what they sign up for. Bad things sometimes happen.
