Ho Chi Minh deserves more recognition

You dont seem to understand the history of Vietnam or the war at all. Before the United States was involved, France had essentially enslaved the country of Vietnam. The communists violently fought against their colonizers and anyone who supported them. The US supported France's colonialism because we wanted to keep getting resources from the region for cheap. There were some Vietnamese who were in the upper class during this time that got rich and lived comfortable lives during the colonial period. These Vietnamese supported France as well as the United States. So when the communists fought for freedom, they were fighting against not only the French, and the Americas, but also against the Vietnamese who sought to keep colonialism alive and keep the majority of the country poor so that they could stay wealthy. There is no comparison of war crimes between the communists and the Anericans or even between the communists and the south Vietnamese governement and military. The mass rapings, chemical weapon usage, bombing of cities, mass killings of civilians was pretty much all done by the the US, South Vietnamese, and the other militaries that supported them. Yes the communists did commit mass killings but their killings were targeted towards those who supported foreign control of their homeland.
