Holger Rune speaks out on frozen atp rankings and how it has affected him

Thats true through. I was wondering about this recently. Countries like the US have 3 (!!!) master events, a grand slam and who knows how many 250/500 events (atp and wta). On top of everything all grand slams trade wild cards. Obviously this is one of the biggest countries and all so we can expect to have the most events but that’s quite the advantage for home players. Then you have Russia with none of this, do they even have an ATP 500 event? And imagine if they did, the whole atp/wta would have been peppered with them.

Anyway, I went though the Tennis Europe / ITF rankings and realised that kids from my country have been all over them in the past decade, while we only had 1 (!!!) top 100 player on both sides. The talent is there but the money is not. However, I believe the wild card advantage and the access to other lower level tournaments is also a big thing.
