Holy crap. Just beat infinite for the first time? Anyone wanna talk about it and the series as a whole?

BioShock > BioShock 2 > BioShock Infinite.

The first BioShock is my absolute favourite game of all time. I love it so much and it's always a joy to play. It has fun gameplay and combat, interesting and memorable characters, a beautifully crafted world and an engrossing story.

It's been a while since I've played BioShock 2, but I really enjoyed playing that game too. The story wasn't as strong as the first, but it did have some interesting characters. Minerva's Den was a brilliant addition too.

Infinite was quite a disappointment. The story, world and characters didn't grab me at all. I found Booker and Elizabeth pretty dull and didn't care for them at all, which naturally made the story harder to enjoy as it's all about them. Gameplay wise, it's solid and a lot of fun (there's far too much combat however, gets a little tiring). Columbia looked very pretty, but didn't really feel very atmospheric or alive (it felt too static and museum-like).

I wanted to be blown away by Infinite. I remember playing it for the first time and waiting for that one awesome moment to pull me in and dig it hooks into me, but it never came. I felt like that for the entire game and when I reached the end instead of being amazed and shocked, I was just a bit unsure and underwhelmed.

Burial at Sea was okay. Seeing pre-fall Rapture was nice and seeing Sander Cohen was cool as shit too, as he's one of my favourite characters. I found the story a bit confusing at times. And I don't like that they further explored the connection to the first game. I wish they'd just leave it alone and exist separately. I'd no doubt mind this if I enjoyed Infinite's story and had more positive thoughts on it. So yeah, I don't hate Infinite, I was just very disappointed by it.
